Home going service for Mr. Chandler Hamblin McCollin who passed away on July 11, 2014 will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Seffner, 6720 County Road 579 N Seffner, Florida Rev. Nathaniel Love, Pastor with Elder Jesse Smalley, officiating. Interment will follow in Unity African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery, Seffner FL.
Mr. McCollin leaves to cherish memories of him with children, Mycalah McCollin, Monica McCollin-Ramos, Krystal Everett, Darryl Baker, Chandler McCollin, Jr., Curvill McCollin, Veronica Cotton, Sharon Smalley, Valerie Batchelor, Rainsford Batchelor and John Hayes; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Inez Greaves, Antha Kinch, Sylvan Godwyn, special friends, Julia Scaggas and Willie Jackson and other relatives and friends.
A native of Barbados, West Indies Mr. McCollin was born to the parentage of Edward Greaves and Adella McCollin Greaves. He left his native country at the young age of 17 to work as a cook on a ship.
After doing this for several years he made Tampa his home and worked for Lykes Brothers for 30 years prior to his retiring.
There will be a viewing on Friday, July 19, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL, the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
