Welles W. Hall, 79, of Lapeer passed away on July 5, 2014 at The Pines of Lapeer Assisted Living. He was born on October 11, 1934 in Goodrich, the son of the late Wilbur and Marguerite (Wolfe) Hall.
Welles graduated from Davison High School and then attended the General Motors Institute. Georgann Robinson became his bride on August 19, 1955. He began work in 1957 at Buick Motor Division as a draftsman, later as a design engineer at the GM Tech Center in Warren. After retiring from GM in 1989 they moved to Rapid City. An avid fisherman, Welles also enjoyed hunting, travel, anything automotive and time spent with family and friends. After Georgann’s death in 2001, he married D. Shirley Franklin on October 11, 2003. They moved to Lapeer in 2013.
Welles was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Elk Rapids.
Surviving Welles is his wife, Shirley; his children, David Hall of Virginia Beach, VA and Kathy (Thomas) Mitchell of Davison; his granddaughter, Kimberly (Ryan) Retzloff of Auburn; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jaxson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Davison with Reverend James Redmann of the Grace Lutheran Church in Elk Rapids officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Welles’ honor to the donor’s choice.
