E. Louis Caron

U.S. Veteran

E. Louis Caron of Kalamazoo, passed away Sunday July 6, 2014 at Borgess Gardens Nursing Home. Louis was born July 31, 1922 in Chicago the son of Edgar and Ethel (Dame) Caron. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II serving in the 3rd Armored Division, receiving the Bronze Star. He graduated from WMU High School, attended WMU, graduated from Texas A&M, Bradley and the University of Illinois. Louis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he was a Lector & Eucharistic Minister and active in the Men’s Club, Parish Council & Administration Commission. He retired as a research Scientist after 39 years at the Upjohn Co. Former Justice of the Peace, Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, Member of the American Chemical Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers-Data Processing Mgt. Association, Assoc. for Computing Machinery, Assoc. for Systems Analysis, and member of Kalamazoo Model Railroad Club. On August 21, 1948 in Kalamazoo Louis was united in marriage to the former Gladys Weberg who preceded him in death on July 11, 2013. Surviving are, sons and spouses Paul of Asheville, NC, Jeffrey and Lorraine of Vicksburg, MI, Gary and Marianne of Richland, MI and daughter Melanie of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren; many step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberly and son Todd; brother, Alan and a sister Joanne. Friends are being received Saturday 10-11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, MI.
