Ms. Charleen E. Walker, affectionately known as “Popsi” went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 30, 2014. She was born to the late Hazeline Mason Walker and Berrel Walker on October 21, 1958. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Walker and special friend, Steve Dodson. Charleen was educated in the Dinwiddie Public Schools system. During her life she worked at the Fort Lee Officers Club and most recently at the John James Mess Hall also at Fort Lee, until her health began to decline. She was a fun and outgoing person who was known for speaking her mind. She loved doing anything she could for her family and friends and will be missed dearly. She leaves to cherish her precious memory one loving and devoted son, Steve A. Walker; six sisters, Paulette Mason (James) of Petersburg, Va., Sandra Mason Jones (Alexander) of South Chesterfield, Va., Felicia Orr (Fred), Tiyonne Henderson (Keith) both of Petersburg, Va., and Gloria Walker of Dinwiddie, Va. Two brothers, Berrel Walker, Jr. (Phyllis) of Petersburg, Va. and James Walker of Albany, New York. Six aunts, Mary Jackson of Washington, DC, Edna Griffin (Ernest) of Petersburg, Va., Rosa Mason of Stoney Creek, Va., Gertrude Jones (Preston) of Ettrick, Va., Vera Walker and Ellen Walker, both of Dinwiddie, Va. One uncle, Percelle Walker of Buffalo, New York; five nieces, Shaunielle Mason, Sharronda Walker Destini Orr Samantha Davis and Roteria Bailey; Seven nephews, Eric Mason, Antonio Walker, Daymond Walker, Quintez Henderson, Quinell Henderson, Leslie Davis and Latrell King; several cousins, one devoted, Doreen Francois; Godsister Rosetta Green, many friends too numerous to name, one devoted, Shelia Forbes, the Dodson family and the Piney Beach and Pin Oaks communities. A homegoing service will be held on Saturday June 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Petersburg, with Rev. Kevin M. Northam, officiating.
