Age 83

Died Monday, June 30, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Alabama with her loving family at her side. She was born February 7, 1931, in Lexington, Virginia. On August 11, 1950, she married James McGuire and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2011. Mrs. McGuire was an active member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Ypsilanti for over 57 years where she formerly served as the Church Treasurer and also served as a board member for the State of Michigan Free Will Baptist Association. Mrs. McGuire was also involved in many community organizations to include being an active parent with the Willow Run Schools Athletic Boosters, and serving as a Brownie and Cub Scout Leader. Survivors include three children: Dee Farr, James (Kathy) McGuire Jr., and Jon (Denise) Snyder; six grandchildren: Danny (Kristi) Overbee, James (Jessica) Overbee, Joshua (Mollie) McGuire, Kelsey McGuire, Shana Snyder and Christina Snyder; one great grandchild, Emily Elizabeth Overbee; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Banks. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Ypsilanti with Rev. Rex Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti, MI. Contributions in her memory may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at Janowiak Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday, July 4 from 5-8 p.m. and at the Church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.
