Forest E. Houran, 89, a former resident of Elm Street in Bennington died Thursday June 26, 2014 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington following a long illness.
He was born in Bennington, VT February 8, 1925. He was the son of the late Edward and Albina (LaTour) Houran. Forest received his education in Bennington.
In earlier years Forest was employed at the Pownal Tannery in Pownal, VT and for 22 years he had been employed at the Bijur Lubricating Corporation in Bennington from which he retired.
He was a former member of the Bennington Lodge of Elks 567. He enjoyed playing cards and scratch off tickets.
Survivors include a sister in law Antoinette Houran of Bennington and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, Edward, Charles,William, Lawrence, and Vernet Houran and a sister, Medora Hyde.
A graveside service will be held at the family lot at the Village Cemetery in Bennington at the convenience of the family.
