Jim Paul Stewart of Geneva passed away on June 24, 2014. He was 88. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Maple Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 1009 W. Maple Avenue, Geneva, AL 36340.
Mr. Stewart was born in Geneva County, Ala. on May 2, 1926 to the late James and Minnie Dell Trim Stewart. He was retired from Clinton Mills where he was a supervisor for many years. He enjoyed talking about the “good ol’ days” at the cotton mill, and he loved working in his yard and garden. He especially took pleasure in growing tomatoes and all vegetables and sharing them with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Minnie Lou Quattlebaum Stewart; daughter, Sheila Stewart Boswell; two brothers, Jerome Stewart and Wilmer Stewart; and two sisters, Kitty Clyde Thames and Ruby Green.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy Stewart, Sr. (Gayle) of Geneva; four grandchildren, Andrea Kern (Jeffrey) of Navarre Beach, Fla., Jimmie Lawrence (Randy) of San Antonio, Tex., Jimmy Stewart, Jr. of Choctaw Beach, Fla., and Turner Shelley (Emily) of Geneva; three great grandsons, Joshua Kern, Nathan Kern and Randall Lawrence; sisters-in-law, Nellie Stewart of Fortson, Ga. and Bonnie Quattlebaum of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
