Naia Louise Conrad

Naia Louise Conrad died peacefully at Westboro House in West Lebanon, NH on June 6, 2014. She was born in Hammond, Indiana on June 23, 1934 to Howard Lorenzo and Esther (Wolters) Conrad.

She graduated from Hammond High and Purdue University. Naia was a member of the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Nashua NH and the Kearsarge Universalist Fellowship. She had lived in South Sutton, NH since 1972 where she had been a member of the planning board. She worked in the special education department of the Kearsarge Regional school district for many years. Naia volunteered with the Upper Valley Humane Society. She loved all of her own dogs from Jan to Jazz. She was a dedicated singer with the Songweavers women's’ singing group of Concord NH. Naia hiked and biked in the U.S. Europe, Canada, and New Zealand. She made lifelong friends on these trips. Naia is survived by her brother Dale Conrad (Carol) of Seattle WA, her children Lisa Florence of Canaan, NH, Jeff Florence of Buel’s Gore, VT, Lynn Mayo (Jeff) of Benton NH, and Peter Florence of VT. She deeply loved her grandchildren-Alexandra Naia Florence of Austin, TX, Cathy Louise Mayo of Wilder VT, and Philip Lawrence Mayo of Benton, NH. She is also survived by her former husband Gerald P. Florence of Sonoma, CA. The family thanks everyone at Westboro House for the care, comfort, and peace they gave Naia. Angela, AJ, Mike, Deb, Amanda, Tanya, Lisa, Doris, Lorraine, Linda, and David - Thank you so much.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial calling hour beginning at 1 pm on Saturday, June 28th with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm at the Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Memory Cafe, a support group that made her smile, or the Sutton Historical Society.Donations can be made out to Dartmouth College, with Memory Cafe/Naia Conrad written in the memo line, and sent to DH Aging Resource Center, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon NH, 03756. Donations for the Sutton Historical Society can be sent to PO Box 457, 655 Rt 114, South Sutton, NH 03273. Please put Naia Conrad in the memo Line.
