U.S. Veteran

Frank Mello Jr. 84 of Delray Beach Florida, formerly of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts passed away on June 18, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Elsie, daughter Roberta Martin and son Dr. Michael Mello. Predeceased daughters Kathryn and Susan. Father in-law to William Martin and Dr. Pamela McKnight. Grandfather to Shawn Dunlap, Patrick Bagana, Christopher Dunlap, Alexander Martin, Elizabeth Mello, Andrew Mello, Julianna Mello, Caroline Mello, Danna Bellassai; great grandsons Michael Bellassai and Cody Ryan Dunlap. Sisters Maryann Bettencourt and Carol Groves. Brother Donald Mello. Uncle to Robert, Jeremy, and Bryan Bettencourt, Donald and Monica Mello, Rochelle,Shannie and Seth Groves.

Frank was a veteran serving in the Korean War aboard the USS Missouri, member of the American Legion, Third Degree Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent dePaul for St. Mary's Church of South Dartmouth and Massachusetts Civil Engineers Club. A former 10 year member of the Massachusetts Department of Public Works Board and Commissioner for the town of Dartmouth. He was a civil engineer for the Massachusetts DPW for 35 years.

Family and friends may join in remembrance of Frank on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 11 AM to 12 noon at the Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 Northeast 6th Ave. (North Federal Highway) Delray Beach, Florida 33483. Funeral mass will follow at 1 PM at Emmanuel Church, 15700 South Military Trail, Delray Beach. Burial services will be held at a later date at the Padanaram Cemetery in Dartmouth, MA.
