Randolph Weaver, 60 years of age, passed away June 20, 2014. He was born March 22, 1954 in Natchitoches, LA. Randolph was better known as "Randy". He was a loving and devoted husband and partner to Lynne for the better part of three decades and was a great father and mentor to Will. He loved to joke and laugh, was serious when it was needed, and left his mark on everyone that he met.
Randy was a person who was "Larger than Life". He worked for the Natchitoches City Police Department for a total of almost 40 years. He was a great partner, a great supervisor, and training officer. He was the guy who knew most of the citizens of Natchitoches, and helped out whenever he could in most any situation.
He will always be remembered as a great friend who would do, and many times, did, most anything to help out another "brother in blue". Those closest to him will always cherish the friendship they had. Randy loved, as most came to know, to aggravate the fire out of people, but if you really knew him, you knew there was never any harm in it. It was always in good fun. He could fix anything that was broke, he never judged anyone for their problems, and was one heck of a shot. He could shoot the center of a shotgun shell with a .22 and strike a match with a BB gun.
Randy knew and swore by the law. He had a few pet-peeves when it came to law enforcement: don’t park in the fire zone, and don’t even think about pulling a trailer with no lights or license plate. He loved to cook and he loved to eat. If you really knew Randy, you knew him to be the most honest person that you would ever meet. He would give you the shirt off of his back, (even though it would probably be too big for you.) He loved Lynne and Will with all of his heart, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lynne Dowden Weaver; his son, William Randolph Weaver and wife Kathleen Laske of Lake Charles, LA; one sister, Amber Hammond and husband Ray of Moss Bluff, LA; one brother, Lamon Weaver, Jr. of Natchitoches, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, fellow officers, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamon Weaver Sr. and Alma Dickson Weaver; and one sister, Sheryl Weaver Smith. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kelly Gray, Randy Williams, Keith Thompson, Ross Desadier, Tommy Lashley, and Dee Holman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy's fellow police officers at the Natchitoches Police Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the NSU Foundation for the Randy Weaver Scholarship in Criminal Justice.
