Thomas P. Bellgowan

Of Lansing

Born October 30, 1935 in Lansing, the son of the late George G. & Mary M. (Rost) Bellgowan, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 in Grayling at age 78. Tom retired as a Product Engineer for Oldsmobile in 1988 after 35 years of service. Tom made his Cursillo at Holy Cross Church and lived a life of disciplined sacrifice, always keeping God, family and hard work at the forefront of his life – which provided an excellent example by which his family could follow. Tom enjoyed his lifelong friends and the “Mooser” friends who he was always willing to share tales of their many adventures together. Tom loved MSU sports and was involved with Holy Cross Athletics, having served as their Athletic Director. He was also instrumental in forming the Catholic Youth League and served as their president. He coached many kids in the game of basketball. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. Tom is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Christopher, 6 siblings: Bob, Jim, Nancy Wryzenski, Mary Kathryn Lobert, Sue Wilson and Frank Bellgowan. Surviving is his devoted wife Kay, of 59 years, 7 daughters: Beanie Villa, Mickey Torrez, Lolly Rocha, Bunny (Bob) Terranova, Kitty Farr, Stephie (Armando) Silvas and Pam (Mike) Green, 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren with one on the way, a sister, Jean (Dick) Dodson, 2 brothers: Jon (Mary Ellen) Bellgowan and Terry (Tammy) Bellgowan, his companion “Molly” and many loving nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 2:00PM at St. Mary Cathedral with Rev. Msgr Bernard Reilly as celebrant. Rite of committal will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation is Monday 2-4 & 6-8PM at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel, 6020 W. Saginaw, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30PM. Visitation continues Tuesday at the church at 1:00PM. Memorials can be made to The Covenant House. Envelopes available at the funeral home. Condolences can be made at www.palmerbush.com.
