Kenny Kordes was born May 8th, 1928 to Arthur and Anna (Oelfke) Kordes in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Parkville High School in 1946 and began his career as an auto mechanic working for his dad. In 1951, Kenny enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country as a B-36 mechanic. Kenny was united in marriage to Kay Helton October 6, 1957 and the couple moved to Gallatin where they raised their two sons, Kevin and Keith. He continued to work at the Chrysler dealership with his dad for several years. In the late 50’s Kenny worked at White Auto Supply as a parts man for several years. In 1998, Kenny became a licensed funeral director and joined his son Kevin working at the family owned Kordes Funeral Homes in Rolla. He greatly enjoyed caring for the families that he served. He was no stranger to hard work and his outgoing personality gave him the confidence to assist the people he served with ease.

Kenny was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Gallatin, Missouri Funeral Directors Association, Gallatin Masonic Lodge 106 and a past member of the Gallatin Lions Club. He enjoyed the fellowship he shared and being part of the community. Kenny was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed every season of hunting whether it was, deer, bird, quail or fishing; he truly loved the outdoors. His family was the pride and joy of his life and he adored his boys and grandchildren. His great sense of humor and his warm smile gave him the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. He was always striving and his focus was his family. To know him was to love him. Kenny will be greatly missed.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and his son Kevin Kordes in 2012.

Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kay, of Gallatin, his son, Keith Kordes of Camden Point, MO, his brother Eldon Kordes of Tehachapi, CA, and his 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Rachel, Caleb and Emily, and numerous nieces and nephews.
