Maureen (Collins) Feenan, age 79, beloved wife of the late James “Jim” J. Feenan Sr., died Tuesday early evening, June 17, 2014 at her residence. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Maurice F. and Willena (Fish) Collins. Mrs. Feenan was raised in Peabody and graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Lynn in the class of 1952. She was a member of the National Honor Society. Following High School, Mrs. Feenan attended Boston College, School of Education and graduated with honors in 1956 as part of the first class of women. She received her Masters Degree in Education in 1979 from Salem State College.

Mrs. Feenan married her beloved husband Jim in 1957 and shared 49 years of marriage until his passing in 2006. They resided Beverly and enjoyed summers with friends and family in Falmouth for many years.

Mrs. Feenan was an elementary school teacher in the Peabody Public School System for many years, primarily at the South School.

Surviving her are her four children, James Feenan Jr. and his wife Patricia of Windham, NH, Michael Feenan and his wife Ann of Nashua, NH, Scott Feenan and his wife Catherine of Groton, Jennifer Whalen and her husband Kevin of Danvers, fourteen grandchildren, Molly, James III, Kathryn, Lauren, Mary, Michael Jr., Patrick, Ian, Sean, Scott, Matthew, Meghan, Emily and Brendan and three great grandchildren Clara, Harrison and Caroline. She was also the sister of the late Helena Marques and Ann Marie Silva and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Feenan’s Funeral will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor. Of North St.) Salem at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot St., Beverly at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
