William O. Stempel age 82 of Marlette died June 16, 2014. He was born in Flynn Township July 3, 1931 to Oscar and Abby (Keesler) Stempel. He graduated from Brown City High School Class of 1950. He served in the United States Army. He married Shirley Marion on February 12, 1955. Bill was a lifelong dairy and crop farmer. He, along with his wife Shirley, also delivered buses and motor homes to dealers for many years. He was active with the Michigan Milk Producers, 4-H, Farm Bureau and had been on the Marlette School Board. He attended Fellowship Bible Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Shirley Stempel, a daughter Jeanne (Danny) Sandmann, a son Dale (Irene) Stempel and a daughter-in-law Bonnie Stempel, 5 grandchildren Hans (Kathy) Stempel, Amanda Stempel, Abby Sandmann, Deanna Sandmann and Cara Sandmann and 3 great grandchildren Lilly, Andrew and William. He was preceded in death by a son Karl and a sister Betty Bubel. A gathering and visitation will be at Carman Funeral Home on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Fellowship Bible Church of Brown City at 1:30 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. Memorial donations may be made to United Hospice in Marlette, Fellowship Bible Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. Cremation arrangements by Carman Funeral Home in Brown City.
