Betty Jane Evans

Mrs. Betty Jane Evans, age 91, of Blairsville, GA passed away peacefully and with much loving care at Stonehenge Assisted Living on June 14, 2014. Betty was born in Akron, Ohio on September 19, 1922, a daughter of the late Harold B. Custer and the late Edith Constance Custer. She came to Blairsville, GA in 2009 from Venice, FL where she had retired with her beloved husband of 61 years, the later Albert R. Evans. Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred LaSalle. Betty was a member of grace United Methodist Church in Venice, Fl, and attended First United Methodist Church in Blairsville, GA. Betty was loved by all who knew her, and always had a winning smile and great sense of humor. Some of her favorite pass-times were baking (She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies and popcorn ball), playing bridge, reading. Needlepoint and quilting. Above all else she enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends and always kept in touch with them, whether near or far away. Betty leaves behind her loving family members to carry on her legacy: son and daughter-in-law, Albert R. (randy) and Denise Evans of Bay Harbor, Michigan; son and daughter-in-law Dave and Marty Evans of Morganton, GA; brother-in-law and wife, David and Kay Evans of Akron, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Amy, Laura, Dan, Emily, Dana, Jennifer and Meredith and ten great grandchildren, Marisa, Allison, Ainsley, Sadie, Alex, Josie, Finley, Will, Ethan and Samantha. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Blairsville, GA on Saturday, June 21 at 1:00 PM Pastor Mark Burgess officiating. A second memorial service will be held in Akron, OH at a later date, with internment at Rose Hill Cemetery in Akron, OH. If you wish in lieu of flowers please make donations to FUMC or Salvation Army. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.
