Johanna (Joan) Mary Folger
South Berwick, ME- Johanna (Joan) Mary Folger, 75, a 38 year resident of South Berwick, died peacefully Sunday June 15, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 28, 1939 in Cork City, County Cork, Ireland the daughter of Daniel and Alice (Powers) Mullins. At the age of fifteen she came from Ireland to live with her Aunt Julia and Uncle Danny in Newburyport, MA. Joan was a graduate of The Immaculate Conception High School, class of 1958. Joan spent many years working at Rich’s Department Store and Sears Roebuck. She took care of numerous children whom she loved dearly.
In 1958 she met the love of her life, Paul Folger, who was in the Air Force. They courted for two years and were married at the Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport, MA in 1959.
Joan was an active member for years of the Catholic Daughters of America and Ladies Ancient Orders of Hiberinia. She was also a member of the Seacoast Irish Cultural Association and Our Lady of the Angels Church in So. Berwick, ME.
She enjoyed hiking, camping, entertaining and traveling. She had many great family memories including reunions with Irish relatives in Ireland and a surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary party given by her children. She loved her times in New York and trips with friends.
Joan had a great joy of life and was always doing for others. She loved being the MATRIARCH of her family. She was well respected and by many was called an “Angel”. She will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of 55 years, Paul W. Folger; four adoring sons; Michael D. Folger and his girlfriend Eva Coburn, Kevin T. Folger and his wife Rachel, Steven P. Folger and his wife Laurel and Keith B. Folger and his wife Cathy all of South Berwick; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother Thomas Mullins of Kilgarvan, Ireland; a sister Margaret Patricia “Patsy” Barnes; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at Tasker Funeral Home 621 Central Ave Dover, NH on Wednesday June 18, 2014 from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday June 19, 2014 at 11am at Our Lady of the Angels 160 Agamenticus Road South Berwick, ME. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Rollinsford.
