Janet Ginger McCaffrey, 67, of Lake Ann, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City. She was born August 3, 1946, in Traverse City, the daughter of Frank “Ed” and Prudence (Howe) Rokos.
Janet was a woman who loved life. She enjoyed going to the casino and curling up with a good book. Janet was an animal lover, and she enjoyed traveling. Most of all, Janet loved her family. She will be remembered as a perfect wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
On October 8, 1981, in Traverse City, Janet married Gaylord Eugene McCaffrey who survives her. She is also survived by: her daughters, Prudence (John) Pulido of Copemish, Penny (Ray) Cox of Copemish, Priscilla (Rennie Crawford) Hard of Lake Ann, Meggan (Rodney Hodges) McCaffrey of Lake Ann; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Frank “Mike” (Gerry) Rokos of Washington and Rosie (Tex) Leatherman of Thompsonville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Janet was preceded in death by: her parents; her son, Russell McCaffrey; her granddaughter, Dyoblyn Rein Stroh; her grandson, Eric Harm; and her brother, Edward Rokos.
The McCaffrey family wishes to thank Hospice of Michigan and the staff of Birchwood Nursing Center for the kindness and compassion they showed to Janet and to her family.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at a later date. The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, is in charge of arrangements.
