Evelyn Robinson

Evelyn was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on July 20, 1944 to Mr William A Robinson and Mrs Nancy Robinson (Tolbert ). The youngest of three girls, Evelyn was educated in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania School System. She later attended and graduated from Penn State University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in French. In 1963, while still a student at Penn State, Evelyn became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Upon graduation, Evelyn taught in the Philadelphia School System for several years before pursuing her Master of Education Degree at Temple University. For more than 25 years, Evelyn worked as a Child Psychologist with the Camden City School System. There she touched the lives on many children both in and out of the classroom. Evelyn retired from the Camden City School District.

Through the years, Evelyn developed a passion for photography and she became a worldwide traveler. She particularly enjoyed vacationing in France, Italy and England. She was also a lover of cats and treated each of her cats as if they were her children; assigning each with an unusual or unique name such as Ebony Earle.

Evelyn, who was affectionately called "EE" by family members showered her family and friends with uncompromising love. She never forgot a birthday. She faithfully sent birthday cards to her nieces, nephews and great nephews with monetary contributions that represented their age. And she was always there to offer a helping hand to those in need. In her Philadelphia neighborhood where she resided for nearly 30 years, Evelyn was regarded as the mother of Johnson Court.

Evelyn had a tremendous love and faith in God. She was a dedicated member of St. Luke's Church where she served as the Rectors Warden for almost 20 years, as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the choir and the Community Choir, a Conformation Class teacher, a member of the Canterbury Society, a Vestry Member, a part of the Bereavement Team, a Chalice bearer, and a member of the Lector and Stewardship committee. Her presence will be truly missed.

Evelyn N. Robinson peacefully departed this life on June 4, 2014.

Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted father, William A Robinson, Nancy Robinson (predeceased), Step mother Beatrice Robinson and two sisters Paula Lawson (predeceased) and Nancy Bullock (predeceased) Brother in law Thomas Lawson, three nephews, Geoffrey Lawson (Tasha), Daryl Bullock and Scott Lawson, one niece Courtney Gendron (John), seven great nephews, Michael, Solomon, Isiah, Luther, Myles, Isaac and Grayson.
