Dominick Anthony Carbone

U.S. Veteran

Dominick Anthony Carbone went to be with his wife, Gert, on June 9, 2014 at the age of 87, on what would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary. He was born on February 17, 1927, the son of Mary (Marchegiano) and Angelo Carbone.

He grew up in the Parkside section of Camden and graduated from Camden High School, Class of 1945. Dom served in the U.S. Army in Europe at the close of World War II. After his service, he met and married the love of his life, Gertrude Jarozynski. They lived in Whitman Park and were the proud parents of 3 children.

In 1976, they moved to Bellmawr. Dom worked for many years at Camden Storage Battery Company and Gloucester Auto. He enjoyed bowling, the casino, Frank Sinatra, Ocean City, the Phillies, and the Eagles. He especially loved being with his grandchildren, and he lit up whenever they were around!

Dom will be dearly missed by his devoted children Mary Lou & James Barnett, Mary & Thomas Carbone, and Susan & Michael Tompkins, and his adoring grandchildren Danielle & Erica Tompkins, Jimmy Barnett, and Evan Carbone. He leaves behind his loving brother, Vincent (Velma), and nephews, Michael (Wendy), Mike, and Vinnie. He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing Friday morning from 8 to 10am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Mass Friday 11am at St. Charles Borromeo RCC, 176 Stagecoach Road, Washington Twp., NJ. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Blackwood. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dominick’s name may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Camden County, Attn: Development Office, 1709 Park Blvd. Camden, NJ 08103.
