Charles A. Tweedy, age 92, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Hospital on June 6, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, his brother John and parents Lula and Charles Tweedy, Sr.
Charles was a lifetime member of the VFW and avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He was a WWII Army veteran, who served in the Philippines. Mr. Tweedy spent countless hours researching family history and reading about the civil war. He was a retired lather, Local 108, and was a member of the Lathers and Carpenter Union, Local 626, having worked in construction all of his life.
Charles is survived by his son Michael Tweedy and daughter Barbara (Doug) Roberts, granddaughter Kim (Mike) Geier, grandsons, Michael, Christopher, and Shawn Tweedy of West Palm Beach, FL., and sisters, Virginia (Martine) Jarrell of Harrington, Helen Jarrell of Dover and Mary Baker of Pasadena, MD.
Visitation will be held at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE, Wednesday, June 11th from 12-1 pm, service will be at 1 pm. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
