Sister Mary Fran Wilkowski, 80, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, June 08, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
Sister Fran was born December 26, 1933 in Chicago, daughter of Steve Wilkowski and Helen (Napierala) Wilkowski.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Edward Pendergast of Chicago; a niece, Cindy Lopez; three nephews: Dave Mirowski, Chris Matusak and Kenny Matusak; several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Steve Wilkowski, Jr., two sisters: Dorothy Pendergast and Geraldine Matusak, and a niece, Gerri Adams.
Sister Fran served at St. Mary’s Hospital for 22 years. She spent several years as an elementary school teacher and was the Principal of St. Joseph High School and Good Counsel High School in Chicago. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, reading, bird watching, and spending time with her two cats, Sylvester and Chloe. Her glowing smile will be missed by so many.
A Prayer Service for Sister Fran Wilkowski will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel in Centralia. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Wednesday at the chapel. A Funeral Mass for Sister Fran Wilkowski will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Mother of Good Counsel Convent Chapel in Chicago. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the chapel. Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia is assisting with local arrangements.
