Rose Ann Benson, “Rosie” ended her two-year battle with cancer and entered into the loving arms of God June, 1, 2014. Rose Ann was born November 4, 1947 to Andrew and Regina (Hoffer) Bizub in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. She married the love of her life, Robert Benson in 1966 and to their union was born two sons. She co-owned Curious Goods Antiques in New Jersey for many years and founded and operated Phoenix Food Brokerage. Throughout her children’s growing up she was involved in their activities, particularly, Cub and Boy Scouts as well as anything her children found themselves participating in. Rose Ann and Robert moved to Canon City in 2006 and she soon found friends and activities. Her interests included camping, board games, hot air ballooning and spending time with family members. She was a member of the Royal Gorge Quilt Council and had worked previously at The Royal Gorge Route Railroad. She was loved by all whose lives she touched and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband Robert of 47 years, sons; Robert Jr., of Texas and Richard of Colorado Springs, grandchildren; Andrew Powers, Anthony Benson and Penelope Florence Benson, siblings; Gregory, Thomas, Andrew and Laura. She was preceded by her parents. The family would like to thank Penrose Cancer Center, Orchard of Hope Foundation, St. Thomas More Hospital and Sangre De Cristo Hospice. A Visitation will held June 4th from 5-8 P.M., and Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. both at the Harwood Funeral Home, 225 E. Main Street, Florence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Orchard Of Hope Foundation, 111 N. Orchard Ave, Canon City. Online condolences at harwoodfunerals.com.
