Betty Lorraine Karr

Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO

Betty Lorraine Allen Karr, age 92, formerly of Warsaw, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Tacoma, Washington. She was born on March 7, 1922, in Independence, MO, the daughter of Joe Leclede and Sylvia Baron Allen.

She attended school in Independence and Pitcher School in Jackson County and graduated from William Christian High School in Independence in 1940.

On August 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to B.Dean Karr. Unto this union, three sons were born, Richard Dean, Jerry Wayne, and Randy Joe. She and her husband were co-owners of Lee's Summit Ready Mix Concrete Company and Blue Springs Karr-Crete Ready Mix Concrete in Blue Springs, MO. In 1956, they moved to Benton County, Missouri and she worked as a school secretary.

Betty was baptized in the Blue Ridge Christian Church in Indpendence in 1940. She was always devoted to her church where ever she lived, serving in many capacities. At the time of her death she was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lincoln, MO.

Betty and Dean traveled extensively throughout the United States. She also was a volunteer in every community service, in church, education, 4-H and other organizations where she lived. Her greatest joy was providing a comfortable and attractive home for her family and taking care of their needs.

In 2008, Betty moved to Tacoma, Washington to be near her son, Randy. She made her home in an assisted living facilty where she made many new friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, of December 25, 1999, and two sons, Richard Dean Karr and Jerry Wayne Karr.

She is survived by one son, Randy Karr, of Tacoma, Washington, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Betty Karr will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO. Burial will be in the Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw. Family request memorial contributions to be made to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers c/o Reser Funeral Home P.O. Box 910, Warsaw, Missouri 65355. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
