In the late evening hours of Monday, May 26, 2014 Gabrielle “Gabbi” Shepherd transitioned to the awaiting arms of Jesus Christ after a tragic car accident. Gabbi was the second of three daughters born to Edward and Karen Shepherd.
Gabbi was a fun-loving, beautiful young woman who loved her family and was a friend to so many people. Gabbi completed her primary and secondary education in the Newport News, Va school system and graduated from Menchville High School in 2010. After graduating from high school Gabbi entered Richard Bland Community College in Petersburg, VA where she studied Criminal Justice. She also attended Virginia Commonwealth University and began working as a restaurant hostess. Although the work was hard and the hours were long Gabbi had truly found a place to shine. She enjoyed the work and absolutely adored the people she worked with.
Gabbi had a free-spirit that could not be tamed. Her parents supported her desire to “Live Life To The Fullest”. She loved her family and knew that her family loved her. She was preceded in death by her grandfather CSM (Ret.) Edward L. Shepherd.
Gabbi leaves to cherish her loving memories her parents Edward and Karen; her two sisters: Ashley Shepherd Nguyen (Khiem & Kai) and Ryan Shepherd; her Oma: Elfriede Shepherd; grandparents: Bernice and Garland Myrick; aunts and uncles: Ruby Shepherd (Terry), Persey Shepherd (Pam), Lierre Greene (Floyd), Darryl Myrick (Cheryl), Crystal Ragland (Eric), Bonita Moore (David); cousins: Robert Donaldson (Dalimar), Aleksis Shepherd, Jordan Greene, Cristin Langford (Kendall), Alex Richardson, Shelita Oliver (Ronald), Robert Moore (Lisa), Ryan Moore (Sandra), Latoyia Myrick (Lamont’e), DJ Myrick, Brittini Myrick; Veronica Johnson and Family, Devoted friends Roger, Natalie, Traci, Amber, Kristina, the Tilted Kilt family, and a host of other very special and devoted family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 31, 2014 at 12 Noon at the Providence Baptist Church, Prince George, Virginia, with the pastor, Rev. William Spencer, officiating, and the Rev. Roderick Knox, eulogizing Burial will follow at the Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the Funeral Home.
