Fay Howard Bennett, age 84 of Circleville, WV, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV. He was born in Circleville on December 16, 1929, the son of the late Jesse Howard and Tena Bell (Sponaugle) Bennett. On June 1, 1956, Fay married Dorothy “Dot” (Nelson) Bennett, who survives in Circleville.
Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Circleville High School and was a member of Circleville Presbyterian Church. He was Veteran of the US Army where he served during the Korean conflict and served 15 months on front-line duty. Fay had worked as a Truck Driver for Hinkle Trucking and was also a Farmer. He was a very dedicated Christian and loved his family and friends
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bennett is survived by: a daughter, Teresa L. Harper of Seneca Rocks, WV; a son, Gregory Howard Bennett and wife Cindy of Circleville; a sister, Hazel B. Simmons of Circleville; 4 grandchildren, Lisa Marie Harper, Joanie Carr, Betsy Bland, Amy Cook; 4 great-grandchildren, Jaimee Carr, Tyler Carr, Matthew Shahan, Makenzie Shahan; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by: a brother, Fred Bennett; a brother-in-law, Edgar L. Simmons; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Mounts Bennett.
Mr. Bennett's family will receive friends on Friday, May 30, 2014, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel will Dr. Paul O'Gorek officiating. Interment will be in the Bennett Family Cemetery, Upper Timber Ridge, Circleville, WV with military graveside services conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
