Jesup – Theda Reddish Bowen, 90, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the home of her son under the care of family and Hospice of South Georgia. She was born in St. Petersburg, FL and had lived in Jesup most of her life. She graduated from Perry Business College in Brunswick and worked in the Brunswick Shipyards during WWII for three years. She was a homemaker and a member of Altamaha Baptist Church and the Sr. Adult Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne Bowen. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Howard and Ray; son and daughter-in-law, Gary Bowen and Mae of Jesup; a sister, Doris Thornton of Griffin; brother and sister-in-law, Warren Reddish and Juanita of Jesup; grandchildren, Jeremy, Cory and Tyler Bowen, Justin Lawrence, Latisha Lawrence May, Laura Howard Williams and Claire Howard; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her caregivers, Ida Rose Alexander and Tonya Spears. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 25 at 2:30 P.M. at the Altamaha Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Lee and Rev. Stanley Todd officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5-8 P.M.at the Howard Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Bowen, Cory Bowen, Tyler Bowen, Justin Lawrence, Ernie Bowen, John Robinson, Mark Thornton, Alan Reddish, and Justin Bettner. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sr. Adult and Love Thy Neighbor Sunday school classes of Altamaha Baptist Church.
