Jeanne Taylor (Greer) O’Daniel, 86, of McAlester, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at a local nursing home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Bishop’s Chapel of Memories with Rev. Rodney Briggs officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Born January 31, 1928 in Pittsburg, she was the daughter of Braz and Alma (Cantrell) Greer. Jeanne grew up and received her education in McAlester.
She was married to W.L. O’Daniel on May 5, 1945. Jeanne worked as a bookkeeper at the family jewelry store, as well as, the OSP, Sheriff’s office and many other businesses over the years.
Jeanne enjoyed bowling and observing nature. She was accomplished at stained glass, sewing and knitting and her heirlooms will forever be enjoyed by her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McAlester.
She is survived by her husband: W.L. O’Daniel of the home; sons: Dan O’Daniel and wife, Barbara of Bartlesville, Larry O’Daniel and wife, Carol of Coweta, Gary O’Daniel of McAlester; and daughters-in-law: Margaret O’Daniel of Broken Arrow, Laurie Leisure of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her father: Braz Greer, her mother: Alma (Cantrell) Greer, a brother: Billy Joe Greer, and two sons: Tracy Nathan O’Daniel and Jerry Gene O’Daniel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeanne’s grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of McAlester.
