ANKENEY, SHERL, age 95, of Miamisburg, OH, passed away, Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Germantown, OH, on July 15, 1918, to the late George and Bessie Mae (Smith) Ankeney. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran; and graduate of the University of Cincinnati School of Pharmacy. Sherl owned the Ankeney Park Drugs in Miamisburg for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was an Auxiliary Ohio State Patrol Officer; a former Miamisburg City Councilman; and a member of Miamisburg First Church of God, Sertoma, Miamisburg VFW & American Legion. For 50 years, he and his wife Barbara volunteered at the Miamisburg Food Pantry ~ Helping Hands. In addition to his parents and his loving wife of 64 years, he was preceded in death by his brother Herb Ankeney; and 2 sisters, Georgia Sheets and Geraldine Howard. Sherl is survived by his 2 sons, Edward (Pam) Ankeney and Mike (Pat) Ankeney; and daughter Beth Ann (Bill) Todd; 7 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, 10 a.m. – 12 Noon (2 hours prior to the Service) Tuesday, May 20th, 2014, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown, where the Funeral Service will follow at 12 Noon, with Pastor Roy Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
