Dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather

Mr. Nelson A. Laferriere, 72, of Waterbury, passed away Monday, May 05, 2014 in Chesapeake, VA with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Norma J. (Mellas) Laferriere.

Nelson was born in Waterbury on February 24, 1942, son of Rolande (Chasse) Lannon and the late Joseph Arnold Laferriere. His true passion was his family, he loved his children and grandchildren, was an avid race car fan and immensely enjoyed camping. He was a loyal brother of IBEW Local 42. Even during his sickness, Nelson never sat idle, he was always fixing something, washing clothes or cooking for his family. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Besides his wife Norma of 46 years, he leaves four sons, Richard Nelson Laferriere and his wife Virginia of Wolcott, Tod M. Laferriere and his fiancée Lori Therrien, Shane I. Laferriere and his wife Erin and David J. Laferriere and his wife Marie all of Waterbury, two daughters, Camri M. Ulevicus and her husband Joseph of Winsted and Michele M. Laferriere, who, even though she passed, was still alive in his heart; nine grandchildren, Richard and his wife Jaime of Southington, Robert and his wife Brittany of Wolcott, Amanda, Madison, Alexia, Evan, Jakob, Zachary & Jaxson Laferriere all of Waterbury; and one great-grandchild Cody Laferriere; a sister, Doris Begley and her husband Jack of Wolcott; two brothers, James and Glen Laferriere; his father-in-law, Peter M. Mellas of Winsted and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Arrangements: Funeral will be held Monday, 9:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
