(June 19, 1924 - April 30, 2014)

Harold John Flannery

Harold Flannery passed away peacefully on April 30, 2014. Harold joined the U.S. Army and fought in World War II with the 34th Infantry Division in North Africa and Italy. He was captured and held prisoner of war at Monte Cassino.

Upon his release and return to the United States he worked as a hammer operator at Melling Drop Forge in Lansing. In 1946 he married Mary Lamb and they made their home in Lansing where they went on to raise two sons.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Lamb) Flannery and son, Larry Flannery. He is survived by his son, Timothy (Deb) Flannery of Henderson, NV; his granddaughter, Heather (Jason) Giese of Appleton, MN; and three great grandchildren, Maddie, William and Claire; along with brothers Ray Flannery and Richard Flannery.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Klein as celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the Ingham County Medical Care Facility Foundation, 3860 Dobie Road, Okemos, MI 48864.
