Richard J. Cass, of Evart, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2013 at Autumnwood of McBain. He was 90.
Mr. Cass was born November 3, 1923 in Evart to Bruce and Muriel (Shannon) Cass. He was a lifelong Evart area resident. Dick was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was a member of VFW Post 7979, Evart. Mr. Cass was married May 16, 1946 in Reed City to Lois Daily who preceded him in death November 10, 2001. He owned and operated Dick’s Texaco in Evart for many years. Mr. Cass enjoyed working on vehicles, snowplowing, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing.
Dick is survived by his sister, Dorothy Tryon of Evart, his two brothers, Paul (Thelma) Cass of Evart, and Duane (Alice) Cass of Evart and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lois Cass, 2 sisters, Jean Landaker, and Donna Scroggins, and a brother, Harold Cass.
Funeral services for Richard James Cass are 2:00pm Tuesday, May 6th at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart. Visitation is Tuesday 11:00am until time of services. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Reed City.
