Gloria Jean Johnsen, 81, of Lawrenceville died peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, April 26, at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, Gloria was a resident of Belle Mead for 40 years prior to her move to Skillman, Ewing and eventually Lawrenceville 2 ½ years ago.
Gloria was a member of the Montgomery Evangelical Free Church in Belle Mead and loved playing Skip Bo every week with her friends. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She loved her family and extended family so much.
Daughter of the late Nikolai and Magda Pedersen, wife of the late Herbert Johnsen, and sister of the late Ruth, Norma and Judy, Gloria is survived by her children, Robert Johnsen and his wife Andrea, Terri Astrin and her husband Scott, Stephen Johnsen and his wife Elizabeth and David Johnsen; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Sara, Kylie, Justin, Jordan, Michael, Tyler and Aidan. Gloria is also survived by her 6 great grandchildren, Austin, Hailey, Gracie, Jordi, Abigail and Angela and dear friends, Marie, Sue, Claire and Audrey.
A viewing for Gloria will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at the Montgomery Evangelical Free Church, 246 Bellemead Griggstown Road, Belle Mead, NJ 08502. A funeral service will then follow the viewing at 7 PM with the Rev. Brian Cooper, Pastor, officiating.
Burial services will take place on Thursday, May 1 at 10:30 AM in the chapel at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
