Virginia “Gin” Rich, 94, born in Linneus, Missouri, passed away on April 26, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, an infant daughter, Shari Sue, and her husband of 46 years, Loran Rich. She is survived by a sister, Hazel Wells and a brother, A.R. Lewis, both of Colorado Springs, many nieces and nephews and her companion of 21 years, Don Jones.

Gin worked as an elevator and telephone operator, bookkeeper, school secretary, and district court bailiff retiring at age 72 in Alamosa, then moving to Pueblo at age 78. Gin was loved by many for her good nature and warm heart. She was a true-blue friend, keen bridge player, knitter of 14 beautiful sweaters, Meals-on-Wheels bringer, and board member of the SLV Area Agency on Aging. During her final years Gin enjoyed compassionate care at the Chateau-at-Sharmar.

As she requested, her cremated remains have already been buried in Alamosa alongside those of her husband and daughter. Contributions are suggested to the local Meals-on-Wheels program.
