On April 23, 2014 Martha Loretta "Marti" Walton passed away at her Fort Jones home with her loving husband by her side. She was 67 years old.
Marti was born in New York, New York to Thomas and Martha Fisher. She received her formal education from Foothill College, receiving an A.A. degree, and continued her education at Santa Clara University for another year. Then, following her heart, she married David Walton and followed him to Germany for a U.S. Army deployment and a honeymoon, never looking back.
Marti was a great asset to her employer of 33 years, PG&E. She was in the pilot and designing of PG&E’s first graphic informational system for gas and electric facilities. She was a pioneer in a nontraditional position.
Marti discovered the mysteries of life through being a voracious reader. The other aspect was it allowed her to be a master of trivial pursuit. Marti’s gardens were her world. She created some beautiful rock walls. She loved the outdoors and nature. Marti was kind to all animals, big and small, with a special spot for CATS. She was an avid volunteer, supporting many different groups. Her special interest was Purr Angels, where she worked as their fund raiser for four years and helping when and where ever she was needed.
Marti never met a stranger. Her compassion and integrity were foremost. She was a spitfire of a lady. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Marti is survived by her husband of 46 wonderful years, Dave Walton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Eugene Fisher.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka.
