Mayo Clifton Arbaugh, age 80 of Circleville, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Sudie and Ralph Selmon in Cherry Grove, who were his caretakers for several months. He was born in Cherry Grove on March 26, 1934, the son of the late Clifton and Margie (Warner) Arbaugh. Mayo married Pauline Bennett Arbaugh, who preceded him in death on April 24, 2013.
Mr. Arbaugh was a graduate of Circleville High School, he attended Dry Run Church of the Brethren, and was a Pentecostal by faith. He retired from Howes Leather Company in Frank, WV and was a US Army Veteran and served during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Arbaugh is survived by: a son, Michael William Arbaugh and wife Kathy of Cherry Grove; 5 sisters, Ideva Martin and husband Warren of Harrisonburg, Norma Thomas of Harrisonburg, Thelma Foley of Harrisonburg, Arveda Nesselrodt and husband Tyson of Brandywine, Margie Wimer of Franklin; 2 half sisters, Robbie Riggleman and husband James of Burlington, Sudie Selmon and husband Ralph of Cherry Grove; 2 brothers, David Arbaugh of Dayton, VA, Luther Arbaugh of Broadway, VA; 2 grandchildren, Christina Arbaugh and fiance Rusty Pennington, Clifton Michael Arbaugh; 2 great-grandchildren, Hanna Pennington and Colton Pennington; and 2 sister-in-laws that were also his caretakers, Mary Marshall and Mabel Mick. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by: a brother, Robert and a sister, Alfleda Vandevander.
Mr. Abaugh's family will receive friends on Saturday, April 26, 2014, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Louis Paul officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin with military graveside services conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
