Douglas Andrew Pinsonneault, 39, a resident of Pageant Street, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Pittsfield, MA, November 5, 1974, he was the son of Michael J. and Gail (Raina) Pinsonneault. Doug received his early education in Bennington and was a 1993 graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School. He received his undergraduate from Pheiffer University in Misenheimer, NC. Doug later studied turf management at UMASS Amherst and also at SUNY Cobbleskill.
For several years Doug served as superintendent of greens at Mt. Anthony Country Club, Lake St. Catherine Country Club and Waubeeka Golf Course.
After playing Little League baseball as a youth Doug turned to golf as his favorite pastime. He was a member and also served as captain of both Mt. Anthony and Pheiffer golf teams. He was a Junior Champion golfer and played in several Vermont Amateur Championships. He also was the Mt. Anthony Country Club men’s champion several times and together with his Dad won several father and son championships.
An avid outdoorsman Doug loved both hunting and fishing and was always thrilled with the opportunity when he got a moose.
Doug had a natural talent exhibited in both his paintings and drawings that he created.
Survivors include his parents. Mike and Gail Pinsonneault of Bennington; a brother, Todd Pinsonneault of Putney, VT; aunts and uncles Arlene Zappone of North Adams, MA who is also Doug’s God-mother, Don Raina of Fairfield, CA, Patrick and Babe Pinsonneault of Pensacola, FL, Tamy Raina of Kennett Square, PA and Ginette Jordan of Austin, Texas and his God-father, Patrick Pinsonneault along with many loving cousins from through-out the country. Doug is also survived by his trusted companion “Eve” and was predeceased by “Seven” after losing him at the age of 14.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with a prayer and from St. Francis de Sales Church at 11:00 A.M. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. when the family will be in attendance.
