Alamo Tn – Travis Crockett Boone, age 89, passed away April 21,2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a short illness. He was surrounded by his two daughters and three granddaughters as he passed from this life to rejoin the love of his life, his late wife of 55 years, Martha Nell Farrow Boone. He was a lifelong resident of Alamo, TN. He was born in the Nance community where he resided until he joined the Navy at age 18. He served during WWII for 5 years following in the tradition of his three brothers before him. Travis was most well known as the owner/partner of the Western Auto Store on Court Square in Alamo from 1955 to 1976,
Travis was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Cynthia Conley Boone, three older brothers, Daniel, George and Ed, and two older sisters, Rachel Parlow and Beatrice Lanier.
He leaves behind two daughters, Cynthia Carter (Ken) and Jean Mather (Geoff). He also leaves three grandchildren, Jean Ann Clark (Rich), Chrissy Vandiver (Keith), Abby Futrell and three great-grandsons, Ben Carter Clark, Gage Allen Vandiver, and Travis Andrew Vandiver. Travis had many nieces, nephews and special friends that he loved and spoke of often.
The funeral service will be on Thursday morning at 10 am at the Nance Church of Christ, where he was a faithful member. He will be buried in the Church Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at Ronk Funeral Home in Alamo.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nance Church of Christ cemetery fund or the local Veterans Administration will be appreciated.
