William G. Carr

William G. Carr, Jr. 90, of Delray Beach, FL and formerly of Worcester, MA, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Dorothy A. (Leahy) Carr; a son, Rev. David W. Carr, President of Cardinal Newman High School, West Palm Beach, FL; three daughters, Mary Ellen Berg and her husband, Lawrence of North Grafton, Noreen Giammalvo and her husband Steven of Oviedo, FL and Julie Carr of Delray Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Daniel, Jeffrey and Andrew Giammalvo and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of William G. and Mary E. (McGillicuddy) Carr and graduated from Commerce High School. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

Bill was a Sergeant for the City of Worcester Police Department for many years, before retiring. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council #88, the Main South American Legion Post #341 and Our Lady of the Angels Church.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2014, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester, MA with burial to follow at the St. John’s Cemetery.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on May 3, 2014, 10:30AM at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 390 Sequoia Drive South West Palm Beach, FL 33409. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the William G. Carr, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Cardinal Newman High School, 512 Spencer Dr., West Palm Beach, FL 33409.
