William Benjamin “Ben” Guined, 83, of Butler, went home to be with the Lord Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2014. He was born March 18, 1931 in Taylor County to the late James Thomas (Tom) and Annie Bell Wisham Guined. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Jinks Guined, a granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by a son, James Guined (Claire) of Jefferson; two daughters, Sandra Leverett (Paul) of Butler and Deborah Meloun (Paul) of Butler; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert L. Guined; two sisters, Sara McDaniel and Martha Allen; sister-in-law, Mattie Lou Guined; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Horeb Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and songleader. He pastored Midway Baptist Church in Taylor County and Mt Zion Baptist Church in Talbot County. He served as Clerk of Superior Court for twenty one years. He was a lifelong business man and was well known for his country sausage and cured meats. He loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden but his greatest passion was serving God first, family and people.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 3:00 pm at Horeb Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Howard Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
