Levy Jones

Levy Jones affectionately known as “Lucky “of 550 Flank Road Petersburg Virginia (Vista Park Assisted Living) departed this life on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was born in Augusta Georgia on September 20, 1925 to the late Levy Jones Sr. and Ella Bush Jones. He served in United States Army where he received honorable discharge. He attended the former Virginia State Institute where he studied to become an electrician. He worked for years with Friendly’s Oil Company, Southside Candy Company and Maclin Zimmerman Tabaco Company.

  Lucky was a very peaceful and loving man. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and dominos. He loved to watch the DC Giants baseball team on Saturdays and Sundays. He was well known as Uncle Lucky.

He is preceded in death by his wife Rachel Gilmore Jones, a brother, Kenny Jones and two sisters, Mary Sharp and Louise Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memories one brother;Arthur Jones of Claxton GA., three daughters;Phyllis Jackson of Hopewell, Sabrina Queen (James) of Chesterfield, and Mary Jones Brown of Maryland, five sons; Levy Jones lll ( June) of Petersburg, Lamont Jones of Petersburg, Letaz Jones ( Avis) of North Carolina, Walter Jones (Ruby) of Woodbridge, and Mark Smith (Veena) of Chesterfield, twenty five grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.

The family would like to thank Vista Park Assisted Living, Southside Regional Medical Center ICU, 5 West nursing staff and Gentiva Hospice. A specialthanks to Dr. Neff and Dr. Ahmed.

A funeral for Mr. Levy Jones will be held at noon Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Royal Baptist Church, Petersburg; Rev. Dr. Phillip Williams, pastor. The Rev. Carlos Jordan will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mount Level Baptist Church, Dinwiddie. Funeral arrangementsFuneral arrangements entrusted to Joseph M. Johnson and Son Funeral Home, 530 S.
