Larry R. North, 76, Roanoke, IN, passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his residence in Roanoke, IN. Mr. North was born on September 29, 1937, in Huntington, IN, to Roy E. and Lucille (Creager) North. His parents preceded him in death. Larry married Susan K. Stahl on June 28, 1974. She survives and resides in Roanoke, IN.
Larry attended Huntington High School. He served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne and retired from General Motors Fisher Body, Marion, IN. Larry was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Moose Lodge #837, Huntington, IN and Legion Post #160, Roanoke, IN.
Larry was a good musician with a great voice. He was an International Scout enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family, friends and traveling.
Along with his wife, Susan, he is survived by two daughters, Kimberly North, Fort Wayne, IN, Karen North, Gaithersburg, MD; one son, Brian D. North, Fort Wayne, IN; one daughter-in-law, Susan Maunu, Altadena, CA; five brothers, Ron (Inge) North, Mt. Etna, IN, John (Cheryl) North, Fort Wayne, IN, Tom (Peg) North, Roanoke, IN, Don (Jolene) North, Gwinn, MI, Jim North, Huntington, IN; and one sister, Judy North, Huntington, IN. Mr. North is also survived by a special cousin, Vonnie Hoover, Huntington, IN; 8 beloved grandchildren; and 11 beloved great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one son, Timothy North; one brother, Gary North; and one great grandson, Nicholas Barton.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN. Additional calling will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, prior to the Funeral service. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson St. Huntington, IN 46750, with Kent Young officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Etna Cemetery, Mt. Etna, IN.
