Dorothy Ann Heminger

Dorothy Ann (Venlet) Heminger, age 73, of Morley MI, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2014.  Dorothy was born on April 9, 1941 in Grand Rapids, MI to Brant and Dorothy (Pierce) Venlet Sr. Early in her life she moved with her family to Morley MI and she lived there nearly all of her life.

Dorothy loved to bake and will be remembered for the cookies, pies and breads that she made for her family and friends over the years.  Dorothy will also be remembered for the countless quilts that she has made for loved ones.  She was a gardener at heart and loved to work with her flowers and her vegetable garden. You could usually find her outdoors enjoying the birds or taking a walk. 

She is survived by her three children:  Karen and Rick Perrin of Comstock Park, MI; Terri and Dwayne Jackson of Holliday, TX; William and Lori Heminger of Sand Lake, MI.  She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Ashley and Jonathan Perrin; Tyler Moore and Christopher Jackson; Austin, Dylan and Kaitlyn Heminger; Alyssa, Ashley and Gracie Bearup. 

She is survived by her siblings; Carolyn Lach, Barbara Fitzgerald, Sally Jack, Mary Murtland, Janet Proctor and Brant Venlet Jr.   

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, parents, sister Patricia Hasper, and sister- in- law Ione Dard. 

A time of visitation and a memorial service will be held at the Heckman Funeral Home in Howard City MI on Saturday, April 19, 2014.  Visitation will be at 1pm with the memorial service at 2 pm, followed by a graveside service. 

The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at both Bishop Hills and Emmanuel Hospice for their loving and compassionate care for Dorothy.

Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to either Bishop Hills 4951 11 Mile Road, Rockford MI, 49341 or to Emmanuel Hospice, 2161 Leonard Street NW, Grand Rapids MI 49504.
