Lauren “Larry” Merle Boggs, of Overbrook, Kansas passed away in his home on April 11, 2014. He was born July 7, 1938 at Preston, Kansas the son of Arthur J. and Gladys (Wonder) Boggs.
Larry graduated from Preston High School. In March of 1958 he joined the U.S. Air Force. On July 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janet Knowles in Rantoul, Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors are his daughters, Terri Boggs of Overbrook, Kim (David) Houser of Vassar, Kansas; grandchildren, Melissa Anderson, Marc Houser, Roy Houser and David Houser, Jr., Nici Houser Meneley and several great-grandchildren.
Larry was a member of Ridgeway Lodge #62 AF & AM in Overbrook and Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Overbrook Jaycee’s where he served as state vice-president in 1973. Larry was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union in Topeka.
He was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 28 years before ill health caused his early retirement in 1991.
Fishing and visiting with friends were two of his favorite pastimes. Ninety-Nine Springs was his favorite place.
Cremation is planned. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Saturday July 26, 2014 at 99 Springs at Medicine Lodge.
