Adrien H. Berthiaume

U.S. Veteran

Lee, NH/Worcester-Bert quietly slipped away from us on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston MA with his family at his side.   Born in Worcester MA, he was the son of the late Horace A. and Aline J.  (Rock) Berthiaume, and had lived in Millbury,  Auburn and Worcester  MA in his younger years.

He was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and the former Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester.  He had proudly served in the U.S. Navy.  He taught Electrical Engineering for several years at Worcester Junior College, followed by a lengthy tenure at Northern Essex Community College until his retirement.    He was a professional bowler – having once scored a perfect game of 300, enjoyed playing & coaching basketball, but most of all he loved to fish. Fishing was not just his favorite hobby – it was a part of his everyday life, along with his best friend and constant companion – his beloved dog, Quincy .   Bert was blessed with a keen mathematical mind and could solve any problem in his head.   It was a challenge to play word games with him as well.

He leaves behind his son, Benjamin M. Berthiaume, of Seabrook NH, daughter Briana M. Berthiaume of New Bedford MA,  sisters  Anita A.  Gemme  of Millbury MA, and  Marie A. (Ria) Garriepy of  West Boylston MA;  several nieces and nephews, and many  very special friends, especially Jennifer Merrill of Stratham, NH and her family, as well as a host of others who helped make his life complete.  He was predeceased  by his wife, M. Elizabeth (Hammond) Berthiaume.

A memorial service for family and friends  will be held at a date & time to be announced.   Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston is directing arrangements.

May Bert’s memory be a blessing to all those who cherish it.
