Clarence J. Warth

U.S. Veteran

A funeral service for Clarence J. Warth, 84 of Newark will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Father William Hritsko officiating.  Burial will be in Barnes Cemetery with military honors by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Mr. Warth died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 4, 1929 in Kent, Ohio to the late Arlie and Sarah M. (Pfeil) Warth.

He retired in 1988 with 31 years of service at the Newark Air Force Base as an Electronic Technician.  He was a graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School.  He received an Associate Degree in Engineering from Franklin University. He also received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Chicago Institute of Technology. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, American Legion Post 85, AFGE and Wilkin’s Run Grange, having served as a state delegate.

He was a longtime fan of the Cleveland Indians, he enjoyed spending time repairing items, reading and photography was a special hobby. His favorite time was spent with family especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ruth E. (DeBevoise) Warth whom he married on January 26, 1968; children, Ronald (Cheryl) Warth of Gambier, Thomas (Konnie) Warth of Newark, Diane (Darrell) Cordle Of Newark, Suzanne (Doug) Vermaaten of Newark; grandchildren, TJ (Sheena) Boroff, Brock Boroff, Tara (Josh) Williams, Chris Warth, Jeff Warth, Tyra Warth, Gavin Warth, Zachary Cordle, Sara Cordle, Nicholas, Vermaaten, Colin Vermaaten, Quinten Nelson, Joseph Warth, Paul Warth; great- grandchildren, Myla, Memphis, Mason; sister, Catherine Dauber of Chicago; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald M. Warth; brother, Aloysius Warth; and a sister, Margaret Walters.

Calling hours will be observed Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 1850 West Main Street, Newark.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Ann Twp. Fire Dept.  6099 Fallsburg Road, Newark, Ohio 43055-9739. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
