Richard John

Richard J. Kraus, 71, Neenah, went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 31, 2014, at Century Oaks, Oshkosh.  He was born November 12, 1942, in Neenah, son of Leo and Alice (McHugh) Kraus.  Dick was united in marriage to Ann Marie Eckrich on September 7, 1963, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. Dick loved to spend time fishing, playing cards , wood working, working in the yard, and being with his family and friends. He will be remembered for many hours spent as a Cub Scout leader and a member of the Neenah Rocket Football Booster Club. Many fond memories were made while at the trailer on Pearl Lake, playing horseshoes and drinking beer.  Dick worked at George Banta for 43 years and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. 

Richard is survived by his wife: Ann; three children: Christopher (Lynn) Kraus, Menomonee Falls; Brian (Mary) Kraus, Germantown; Shelby (Tim) Sokoloski, Neenah; nine grandchildren: Anthony, Matthew, Ryan, Zachary, Carter, Nicholas, Michael, Tishe, and Nathaniel; three sisters: Catherine “Kaky” (Gene) Clark, Elizabeth “Betty” (Gene) Dombrowski, and Anna Mae Sievert; his loving dog: Sofee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Barbara (Harry) Millstein; and two nieces: Tammy and Missy Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha.

Richard’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the nurses and staff at Century Oaks, Oshkosh, and Heartland Hospice, for all their wonderful care and compassion.
