Nathaniel Sibley departed this life on March 29, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana. Affectionately known as “Cooter,” he was born on January 25, 1938 in Gloster, Mississippi to Willie and Artemease Sibley.
He confessed the Lord at an early age and he was a member of True Temple of Devine Law and Order Spiritual under the leadership of Bishop James Freeman. His hobbies included fishing, making rings, watching TV and watching the snow fall through the window.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 35 years, Jennie (Roberson) Sibley; 3 sons: Nathaniel (Queeny) Sibley, Augusta Sibley both of Dallas, Texas, and Woodrow (Evone) Sibley of Macomb, Mississippi; 4 daughters: Stacey Sibley and Taurus Sibley of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, James Etta Lewis of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Tangala Sibley of Macomb, Mississippi; 5 sisters: Betsy Ealy and Bonnie Sibley of Dallas, Texas, Lou Ella Seaden and Dolly (John) Haines of Gloster, Mississippi, and Evelyn (Fred) Veals of Smithdale, Mississippi; a brother, Willie Sibley of Gloster, Mississippi; a brother-in-law, Eugene (Ida) Roberson of Walkerton, Indiana; and a sister-in law, Naomi Swift of Little Rock, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Artemease Sibley; 2 daughters: Sandra Smith and Sherry Sibley; a sister, Lillie Jean Hunt; and a granddaughter, Janet Sibley.
Funeral services for Nathaniel Sibley will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 in Clark-O’Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
