Edna Rice Lutman

Edna Rice Lutman, 59, of Charles Town, WV passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at INOVA Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne, VA.

Born August 13, 1954 in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of  Edward Russell Rice, Sr. of Mechanicsville, VA and the late Atje Jackson Rice.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, WV.

Edna was a graduate of Longwood College and WV University, where she earned a Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling. She taught Biology for 16 years at Clarke County High School in Berryville, VA and 6 years at Jefferson High School. She was a guidance counselor for 9 years at   Potomac Falls High School in Sterling, VA. Edna was a member of the Women of the Moose in Charles Town.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Charles, at home; one son, Jason Lutman and fiance’, Katherine Crawford of Charles Town; step daughter, Karla Miller and husband, Bobby of Charles Town; stepson, Keith Lutman of Alexandria, VA; sister, Phyllis Rice of Mechanicsville, VA; one brother, E. Russell Rice, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Mechanicsville, VA; two grandchildren, Kelsey and Kylie Miller of Charles Town; two nieces, Lisa Jenkins of Charles Town and Stacy Whipple of Mechanicsville, VA and three nephews, Todd Lutman of Charles Town, Ben Whipple of Mechanicsville, and Carter Rice of Mechanicsville, VA.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town, WV with Pastor Duane Jensen officiating. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles town, WV.

The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Tuesday evening from 6-9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or American Cancer Society, Jefferson County Chapter, C/O Patty Ott, 145 Donald Drive, Charles Town, WV 25414.
