Amor John Mason, Jr. died on Saturday, March 29, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Bensalem. He was 91.
Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Mason has been a resident of Bensalem for the past 57 years. He was a graduate of Temple University where he earned his degree in Journalism.
Mr. Mason was employed with the Navy Aviation Supply Depot for 35 years. He served in the Army Air Corp and was a member of the VFW Post 7665 where he served as an Adjunct.
In 1956, Mr. Mason proudly carried the Olympic Torch on it's final journey into the old Municipal Stadium in South Philadelphia.
Mr. Mason was a member of the Bensalem Senior Center and was a founding member of the Nottingham Civic Association in the Township.
Beloved husband of 70 years to Joyce (Colquhoun) and was the devoted father of Glen Mason (Diane), Amor John Mason (Maureen), William Mason (MaryJane), Michelle Ryan (John), Jacqueline Masko (Michael) and Jeffrey Mason. He was the grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 13.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, from 7:00 until 8:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm. Interment will be held privately for the family in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
