Edward Charles Geissler Jr.

U.S. Veteran

   EDWARD CHARLES GEISSLER JR., 85, of 10 Iroquois Drive North Adams, MA died Friday March 28, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Wethersfield, CT on May 5, 1928, son of the late Edward and Esther (Rylander) Geissler.

He attended Wethersfield High School and graduated with the class of 1946. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1948, serving on the USS Coral Sea in 1946. In 1952 Mr. Geissler graduated from RPI with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and in 1958 he received his masters in Electrical Engineering. He also served as part of the Naval Reserve on the USS Chauncey until 1954. He was honorably discharged in 1960 with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.

He was employed with Sprague Electric from 1958-1985 and retired as the Vice President of Marketing. He was last employed as regional manager from 1985-1990 for Jack Harvey & Associates. Ed was a longtime member of the Northern Berkshire YMCA, an avid reader, enjoyed playing cribbage, doing crossword puzzles and was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was a strong supporter of the North Adams Public Library.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne (Zdon) Geissler whom he married June 26, 1978. Two daughters, Barb Geissler and Monica of Illinois; Kristin DeBates & Tom of Georgia; two stepsons, Gary McConnell of Virginia, and Todd McConnell of Arizona; two grandsons, Tanner and Stephan DeBates; a stepgrandson, Joshua M. Smith of Massachusetts and nieces and nephews including Ralph DelGuidice of CA. and Donna Rumsey of GA. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara DelGuidice.


FUNERAL NOTICE: At Edward’s request, there will be no formal services or calling hours.
